Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant 2013 @ 1-Utama

UPdate: [Close down at 1 utama]

Watami had been in 1-Utama for quite a awhile and they have expend their wings till Pavilion not long after that. Its a casual dining with mixture of classic contemporary and modern interior design.

Till date I still remember on their menu as when they opened that time, I did dine couple of times because of their value lunch/dinner set and not until recently, they have revamp on their menu with introduction of certain item and to our surprise, they have up their standard that most of their food is good for a franchise restaurant.

Fresh Mango Mojito @ RM12.90 is something refreshing yet I still prefer my classic favourite – Kalpis water

If you like to get some good mix taste of flavour then Tokujo Irodori Sushi Moriawase (Special Assorted Irodori Sushi [Salmon, Eel, Tuna]) @ RM24.90 is something that you can consider.

The sushi are served in pair for each type which portion are just right for the taste. 1 piece is just too little. 2 you get to taste the sushi. 3 is too much. No doubt that their sashimi on top is fresh with fine cut, its something we enjoy and if they serve with fresh wasabi, it would be added bonus.

I have never been to Japan but I think this snacks would perfectly fits into Japanese street food as Kushiyaki Misio Onigiri is Rice ball Skewer with Miso Paste @ RM9.90. Nicely pan fried that its a bit crispy on the outer layer and quite fragrant with the taste of it. something simple and best to pair it with their house sake.

NOw one of the dish that make us very suprise which is very value for money that can feed 2-3 pax is this Gyuniku Sukiyaki Nabe or known as Beef Sukiyaki @ RM28.90

Additional ramen to eat with the sukiyaki soup @ RM9.90 for 130 gram / Udon 200 gram for RM9.90 or additional Gohan – Steamed rice @ RM3.90

Love the slice slice beef as it is easy to cook in this pippin hot soup base and its a bit salty if you drink it like that yet its perfect when you eat it with udon. One of the dish that every one is enjoying alot. recommended!

Asari Ishinae Soup @ RM19.90

It is served boiling with a piece of butter melted right in front of you. Once its place in front of you, you can smell the little salty soup base aroma yet its smells so good that you would want to take a sip of it immediately. Do take note that the hot stone is pretty hot and be careful when you spoon it.

This dish is also best to go along with their in house sake, as you can try to take a sip of the soup then a sip of the sake as it brings a very nice aroma out of the soup with sweet taste of the clam and also sake become little smother.

Nagasaki Chanpon fu Ramen  Nagasaki style ramen in pork broth  served with seafood and pork slice @ RM26.90

This noodle origin from Fujian, China this dish was adopted and localised by the Nagasaki people at Kyushu. This ramen is unique as the noodles and vege are stir-fried to bring out the flavour before it is served in steaming hot soup.

Gomoku Kamameshi – Chicken and Seafood Rice Pot  @ RM26.90

another recommended dish as this dish will need about 15 minutes waiting time as they prepare from scratch. then when it is served you need to add in the ingredient yourself that the ebiko is cook that creates the little popping sensation inside your mouth with salmon and prawn that cook just right. – recommended!

Hiroshima-fu Okonomiyaki is Hiroshima style okonomiyaki with pork and shrimp Japanese Pizza @ RM19.90. I love Okonomiyaki alot and I must say this is one of the best at the moment to hunt for. Moist enough yet not too dry on the pan fry with lots of fish flakes and ingredient is pretty generous. Me and PJ enjoying this alot and of course highly recommended by me !

Green Tea Dessert is decent that its soft in the inside and green tea powder flavour is pretty strong on the top.

Then comes with this creme brulee, its another pretty decent dessert that you can consider, not the best yet

Last item before we decided to call it food coma is this fries. Ken suddenly wanted to have fries and I manage to take one only as he finish this whole thing by himself. Its pretty good if you eat with beer, as its filled with herbs end taste and its not too strong.

If you have never try sake or a fan of it then I would recommend try to order the house Watami Sake @ RM47.90. We find it very decently price and its not a huge bottle that you need not worry that you cant finish it. It comes to about 8-10 shots depends how you pour it. Its very smooth, not too spicy yet goes very well with the food.

As with the current item we order, it seems that they have improve on the tastes alot compare to last round I had and its worth to pay another visit. I would come back here again for the Oknomiyaki and the Sukiyaki, of course and this bottle of sake.
