Ah Yap Hokkien Mee @ Sentul

I still remember till today that my first Hokkien Mee in KL was a shocking moment for me with a twist and quarrel with the hawker worker. Hokkien mee in KL is very different from the ones in Penang. Ah Yap Hokkien Mee in Sentul was introduce by a friend that I should give here a try. Apparently this place been operating more than 40 years and from their regular to seem them bringing their customer grandson.

Menu is quite extensive as they do have other stir fried dishes. Love the decor of this place as it seems alot of antique to look at. The server which is a old uncle happily explain to me as he had been there for a few moons already.

Some of the antiques are as old as Qing Dynasty. From the table, stool, delivery lunch box, old ginseng and many others.

The signature here is their Hokkien Noodle. A style of their own. Topped with loads for pork lard to my liking. It is fresh and crispy. The after taste also quite different as the sauce is slightly more thick, flavourful and pack with wok hei.

Not your usual noodle texture as I find this slightly more chewy or springy to my liking.

This is one of the item must have as I find that the Stir Fried lala is very interesting. Not only it is good but unique with its own taste. You get to taste hint of the chili powder, fragrant mild taste of lime after you squeeze on top of it. Didnt overcook too. Perfect as it is! Squeeze of the lime do really give a slight acidic it needs to balance freshness of it off.

find that the Hokkien mee is not bad and I came back a few rounds after that. Worth to give it a try.

U r lying. The food now is so bad....they dont even have many customer...yes...they used to be the best...when the old cook runs the restaurant...but now the myanmar are cooking their food...they do not how to cook it...it's bad......please dont make fake review..

  fake reviews? Harlow. I did put a remark here (–Warning– This is based on my individual taste. Try it at your own risk-) Not everyone have the same palate. My pinch of salt could be different from yours.
  
  At times I pity those kind of shop. there is no continuity of it. Younger generation do not want to take over. The older generation still want to continue their business but their legs and arm could not take it anymore. They can only reply on foreign work. Local workers not willing to work. you dont like just dont go. My taste is not your taste. no need boycott. everyone still need to make a living.
  
  I guess best food will soon be extinct.
  
  Anyway. since you say its bad. Where is your favourite Fried Hokkien noodle? name 2-3 of your favourite places.

It is not as good as it used to be. I had been there since I was 7 years old (1989).it was totally refurbished circa 2010. Before 2010 the original stall was still ok. The Hokkien mee stall used to b one of the many stalls in that shop. There were others like grilled fish stall, frog leg porridge stall and satay stall. The Hokkien mee stall originally was run by husband and wife (old couple) and helped by a few foreign workers. They do Hokkien mee, Cantonese fried yin yong and fried rice. The drinks were sold by the lead tenant whose popular drink was guilingao. Then circa 2010, the old man and wife decided to slow down due to health reasons. Their son took over and bought over the shop and all the other stalls and the lead tenant had to go. The place was refurbished to what it is today. Taste wise, I leave it to other old timers to judge, but what can I say, times have changed.

hi. i went here to pack food after hearing they have the best hokkien mee. the food was not bad. But i ll tell you what is Baddddddd. n mind you i am a very very tolerant person. Their attitude SUCKS!!!!!! The old Chinese man who took order needs to learn manners and the Chinese lady manning the satay stall needs to get this right.......we are buying food and she is not doing us a favour. We are doing them a favour. So if you dont mind rudeness and unpleasantness , visit them .
