el meson @ Desa Park City, KL

El Meson is a well-loved Spanish breakfast and brunch bar that opened in 2009. Its first outlet sits right in the heart of Bangsar, along the bustling Telawi 3, and welcomes a diverse and loyal clientele. El Meson opened its second branch at The Waterfront, Desa ParkCity in May 2016. On top of serving breakfast everyday, El Meson at Desa Park City offers an unrivaled dining atmosphere facing the Waterfront. El Meson essentially specializes in authentic Spanish cuisine in a relaxed and casual setting.

Indeed it is a nice restaurant to hang out in such a great park. Great ambiance and if you are seated outside and the rain just done pouring, it is chilling and enjoy your dinner facing the park. I have been here couple of times, catching up with friends and also celebrating friends birthday.

Best is they have beer on taps too.

Only till the latest visit that they have changed menu. Pimping out our weekend with Tropical Coconut Sangria @ RM 36 for small as they do have jug for bigger groups. Love the drink as it is not your typical sangria as the flavour indeed to mix well. Hint of coconut and sangria mix is not overpowering.

Since we all have tested their signature and we love it, we have decided to hit on their next flavour Lychee Sangria @ RM 87 for 1 jug. Good to share with pax of 5. Love this flavour too as it would be a really nice drinks for ladies.

Something simple to start off with is Smoked Duck Breast Salad  @ RM 30 – with baby Romaine lettuce, raspberry dressing and caramelised onion.

As after you place your order, you are given complimentary warm brown bread and I dip the bread into Alubias con Almejas @ RM 20 – white beans stewed with fresh clams in a Spanish green sauce is just a perfect combination. Fragrant sauce, with spanish peas is soft and nice as you add a clamp on to of it and eat it a bite is just perfect!

It is even better when you have a glass of white wine on your hand to go along. Especially with the dish below:

Queso de Cabra @ RM 24 – oven baked goat’s cheese in light filo pastry with pumpkin jam and caramelised shallots. I can just have 2 of this as the puff is baked to perfection and love the goat cheese taste which is not too strong and paired well with the pumpkin jam. A perfect pairing with wine. recommended.

For something which is classic and good is their Carpaccio @ RM 24 – beef tenderloin carpaccio with mustard dressing, capers, pistachios & manchego cheese. Super thin slice of beef tenderloin that goes well with all the dressing on the top. Like the soft texture and the nuts to give you a nice biting sensation.

Another puff pastries with to consider is Escargot a la Crema @ RM 30 – Sauteéd escargots and mushrooms with garlic & shallots served in a puff pastry

Grilled Salmon @ RM 48 – salmon steak in meuniere sauce with capers, lemon butter sauce and spinach in a bed of pumpkin puree. Is another option for you if you do not opt for meat.

Now if you have red wine on your hand either shiraz or dry wine, then do not miss out the order for Pluma Iberica de Bellota @ RM 58 – Iberico premium pork steak, sliced and served with homemade fries and mesclun salad. It is hard to find iberico pork steak that is punch with flavour yet soft and juicy inside out. Price might be a bit steep however at least give it a try.

Paella Salsa Verde @ RM 68 – Clams & Artichoke in Spanish green sauce. I have had the squid ink last round and my personal preference, I like that more than this as this brings you sourish end. Do like their paella here as it is not an easy meal to prepare. Before you add on the lemon do give it a try first before squeeze the whole thing in.

Love their service here especially one waiter – Mike attended to my table twice on different occasion is top notch. Well, this place do set a notch up for Spanish food range as food here is pretty decent for the pricing.
