Taiwanese Bubble Milk Tea – Gong Cha (貢茶) @ The Gardens

It seems that Taiwanese  bubble milk tea seems like the latest trend to hit in Malaysian shores. First was Cha Time to boom in the market, then few months down the road, next brand that my friends talk about is this latest brand in the market Dong Cha which is also origins from Taiwan, also I realize that there are a few more brands opening up within this 2 months. . Gong Cha (貢茶) which origins from Kaohsiung in Taiwan since 2006 then start from 2009 they have bubble to Asians countries like Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and a few more. Hit to Malaysia few months ago

This is how Gong Cha outlet looks like in The Gardens, Mid valley which located at 1st floor if I am not mistaken it is located on 2nd floor on Paparich/Digi/Maxis that wing.

This on the wall would be their signature drink and its the same like all Taiwanese bubble milk tea, you get to choose your level of  sweetness level – no sugar, 30%, 50%, 70% and full sugar.

Seems like they are quite famous for their Signature Milk Tea and the ways to drink it:

  1. Milk moustache – without stirring, sip the freshly brewed tea from top layer of milk foam.
  2. Tea off – without stirring, slurp the tea from the bottom with a straw to savour the freshness and complexity of the tea.
  3. All in one – Stir both layers together and enjoy a perfect blend of milky froth and aromatic tea!

So I ordered and tried their signature drink which I am quite satisfied when I order in their another outlet in SS15.. Since I want to intro this to my friend we decided to try out this branch . .

I would say that I am just very disappointed with the drinks that they have in this branch compare to the one I tried in SS15 as the taste differ so much. My friend just had her Oo Long Tea  a few sips then she gave me the whole cup and I tried it, its like putting milk in plain water and stir it.. Then I throw it away. The Green Tea I had was quite disappointing as well . .

To me I find it weird that how can the quality differ from both branches? I guess that their worker did not train well to mix the whole ingredient well . .  Well well, I should give them another try on their Gardens outlet again . .

Besides that, some of my friends prefer Gong Cha over Cha Time. .  Depends on your preference oh~

  • Wow, kinda dissapointing to hear the inconsistent results. I saw the sign for this in Mid Valley, but then was distracted by my sweetness-cravings and tried the new Taro flavor from ChaTime (it was like drinking taro ice cream, delicious but you NEED to be in a 'sweet' mood)

  • ah..... Ken has been raving about this Gong Cha and now that it is open in Kota Damansara I think I should go and try it out someday :)
