Raku Pizza @ SS15, Subang

SS15 is a well known area for food. You will be spoilt for choices as alot of business owner are pouring into this area because of 3 main population of collages around the area.

Latest addition to the area which is just a few doors away from MacDonales is Raku Pizza. Inspired by Japan concept and also knowing young eaters now are keen to explore further, is where this concept is born by customizing your own pizza.

To build your own pizza is rather simple as it is all place in the menu with step by step. .

First, choose your crust, follow by sauce base and ingredients. If you are not confident with your own creation, you can choose from their recommendation which is from Haru Menu. If Pizza is not your average meal for the day then they offer other varieties such as Udon and Donburi.

One of their signature is Sakurajima Lava @ RM 12.90 that makes it unique is having a runny egg yolk at the center. Before eating it, you must poke it and spread it evenly throughout the pizza. The crust is not your average joe dough as its more like a biscuit crust that mix with mild dough it in. I find it pretty unique and comes to my liking. Generous with cheeze and ingredients that lift up my expectation.

I quite like their Takoyaki as its cook to perfection that slightly crips on the crust and soft on the inside. If they add on some finely chopped cabbage,  that would give it an extra lift of munchy texture.

Since their signature is customise your own pizza, we decided to go for one. We asked if we can customise “half & half” and they said can, only provided the kitchen is not busy. We were lucky that night, as they regard it is not busy therefore we can proceed with our choices.

1) Crust – Plain

2) Half Miso sauce / Curry sauce

3) Ingredients:

(Miso sauce base) – Mentai Mayo, Sweet Corn, Karage Chicken

(Curry Sauce base) – Ebi Katsu, Sweet Onion, Sweet Corn, Japanese Mayo, Bonito Flakes & Crab Sticks.

Outcome – both the most prominent is the sauce base to pair with your key ingredient, however we like both with corns and we find it any fried item would certainly goes well with the taste with a little end of bonito flakes. 😀

Update 25/2/2016

Recently, Raku Pizza have launch one of their new item into their menu with a new ingredient base. Instead of using those normal dough, the owner have launch their new pizza base by using Japanese Rice.

Find the base is quite interesting as when it is serve warm, it is soft and crunchy at the base end with slightly burnt texture like those rice got burn in claypot chicken rice. Drizzle with their teriyaki sauce do enhance the flavour of it as this is my Japanese char Siu Pizza Rice.

Another new item in their menu is this Honey Yuzu Latte, as yuzu taste is very strong with sourish acidic end, with combination of honey to bring the flavour up.

Pretty unique concept and worth to give it a try.
