Anyone in for Ramlee burgeR? Of course I am in. One of my favourite local street food burger. Saw a few post of this burger stall and drop by to check it out. Apprarently Burger Baek is not your usual ramlee burger stall as they are famous for their Crispy Fried Chicken Burger. Why? Because it starts for RM 4 onwards!

Burger Baek (1)

A stall had been operating for more than 15 years in the area.

Burger Baek (2)

If you are here, do prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes as their order is quite crazy but again, really depends on your timing and luck. When I was here, I waited about 20 minutes for this. Of course better then those crazy bubble milk tea queue at SS15

Burger Baek (3)

In the menu, there are quite an option for you to choose from. I am abit greedy on that day, so decided to buy 2 burger for myself to check it out.

Burger Baek (4)

Burger Baek (5)

The crazy burger tray area. Look at the mess.

Burger Baek (6)

The grill pit is getting busy with moutain high order.

Burger Baek (7)

Burger Baek (8)

This is their signature crispy Chicken Burger as double patty is one of their usual famous order. Burger lovers in the area just like to stack it up. Was told by the onwer that there are even customer order 5 pieces of crispy fried chicken stack! That’s crazeeee!

Burger Baek (9)

Well, I find that their burger is not too bad. Fried chicken done to perfection. Sauce added in to make it juicy and overall, a not too bad crispy chicken burger.

Burger Baek (10)

I still like my classic burger. Slopy and drench with sauces, egg wrap on the patty and still think their normal ramlee burger style is better than their famous crispy chicken.

My usual order is Beef Burger Special with Cheese @ RM 4.50

Burger Baek (12)

If you are looking for nice Ramlee burger stall in PJ, I think this stall is not too bad. Kinda worth recommended to give it a try.

However if you are not a fan of burger, I have tried the stall nearby to them and it is pretty good. Nasi Kukus Ayam Maliki Maliki is actually a nasi kukus worth to try which is just a few doors away.

One of a new revamp places in Jaya One that is currently housing a few F&B under one roof. Tommy Thongchai in The Square, Jaya One is one of their latest outlet to be operating in the area. Offering a cool unique Thai Fusion food with a twist. I would say its a clever cooking and flavour combination from all around the world. Not only that, also known as a Thai Gastro bar, hip and chic place to get your reasonable cocktail average at RM 25.

tommy ThongChai (2)

I believe all of you must be curious like me why the place is name Tommy ThongChai? Who is this person or does he exist? Well, half of it is actually from a famous Thai Singer known as ThongChai, a Thai Scottish singer and actor known as Bird ThongChai. A fan of him, the owner use the back name and add in an english name on the front, hence Tommy Thongcai.

A place with its modern interior that certainly makes it a perfect hang out places with friends, especially with celebrations is even better.

tommy ThongChai (29)

On that night itself, we get to sample quite an array of food range and all of them are their signature dishes.

tommy ThongChai (3)

This is not our usual flavour of nachos, it comes with a Thai twist. Thongchai Mango Salsa Nachos’ – mango salsa, coriander aioli, wonton skins @ RM 16 (medium)/ RM 28 (large)

tommy ThongChai (4)

If you come with a group of friends, Tommy’s Platter (extra Large size) @ RM 85 – fried calamari, fried pork belly, fried pork riblets, Chiang Mai sausage, pulled pork fries, Thongchai’s Nachos, luncheoon meat fries, moo ping skewers would be an ideal platter. Fit with all the Thai classic that you need espcailly with a glass of beer.

tommy ThongChai (5)

tommy ThongChai (27)

Besides those platter for you to hit on, there are individual charcoal skewers that you can order too. Ranging from RM 5 – RM 19

tommy ThongChai (15)

tommy ThongChai (6)

Black Angus Steak Fries @ RM 127 (285g) – grain fed black angus ribeye, isaan marinate or thongchai’s dry rub charcoal grilled, thongchai fries.

Not to miss this, as I find the price is very reasonble for such a place and this steak is cook to perfection. Requested for medium rare and pinky inside meat and nice charred on the meat. Juicy inside out. Worth an order.

tommy ThongChai (7)

tommy ThongChai (8)

Kale Salad with a crunch – fresh kale, thongchai kale dressing, thai chili flakes @ RM 22. Those of you love your friends, might want to start off with this.

tommy ThongChai (9)

Both of the starter I quite like as have their own unique taste. Yum Sum-0 (Thai Pamelo Salad) @ RM 26 is every bite burst with flavours. filled with white prawns, imported Thai Pamelo, yum som-o dressing – recommended.

tommy ThongChai (10)

I am a fan of Mac & Cheese yet it is not easy to find a place that serve pretty good one. However, the version here is wiht a twist and I am liking it. Thongchai Baked Mac & Cheese @ RM 35 – krapao pork, mozzarela cheese & macaroni

tommy ThongChai (13)

Tomyum Bolognese with meatball – tomyum pork ragout, homemade meat balls, spaghetti @ RM 23

tommy ThongChai (16)

Classic French Food in KL or Authentic French Food in KL? Where do you find them? There is one actually, hidden right in the heart of TTDI. A hidden gem in the area. Brasserie Leon at Green Terrace, TTDI is one of the place that you might want to hunt for. Indeed, this is one of my favourite restaurant for French Food. Was introduce by Yukiko 2 years ago as she was so into it that she is telling the whole world about it.

Leon (1)

The place might look posh, with high glass setting that brings in all natural light. Fine dining settings that makes you feel it is going to break your bank. Wait till you flip through their menu, then you will be suprise.

Leon (2)

Not your usual fine dining place, as the chef want the diners to expereince the setting and ambiance without digging in too deep into your wallet, yet enjoying homestyle classic French Cuisine.

Leon (15)

starting off with their starters.

Leon (3)

Bread are made fresh daily and one of the first item to reach onto the table. Cripsy on the skin ages, inside is soft and fluffy.

Leon (4)

Deep fried beef cromesquis – Minced beef is dipped in batter and deep fried, and served with smoked paprika mayo

Made fresh, and the meatball is not too dence. Fried to perfection on the meatball and must dip with chef special sauce.

Leon (5)

Flamed cured mackerel @ RM 13.90

for the starters, this would be my highly recommended dish. A simple dish that had some slight tweak in it. Makareal cured to perfection. Nice flavour from the blow tourch on the skin, hint of salty, hint of sweetness aftertaste and the right balance of ingredient flavour. A perfect pairing for their house white wine too.

Leon (6)

Escargots with garlic butter @ RM 16.90 – one of the chef signature item which is also one of his best seller. Escargo is fresh, and peel off from the shell. Easy dining for many of us. Punch with flavour as the garlic butter is strong. I put it ontop on the bread and paired it with wine. Loving it!

Leon (7)

Leon (8)
For cheese lover, the chef is using different cheese for this and you will enjoy every bite of it. Each bite is flavourful by itself and the jam at the side is to give a pairing of sweet note on it. Depending on yourself, as I do dip on it to give me a better dimension of flavour. Deep fried brie cheese @ RM 15.90

Leon (9)

Leon (10)

One of the latest edition into the outlet which is quite high in demand is this  Traditional Raclette @ RM 32.90 , A slab of cheese being place and burt, then melted raclette cheese is scraped over steamed potatoes, onion pickles and gherkins. Simple and hit the right note. The trick is you have to eat it fast!

Leon (11)

Leon (16)

So much food, just have to start some where

Leon (17)

Next is the singature mains.

Leon (18)

Grilled Australian grain-fed beef striploins are the signature from the chef. A 180-gram portions and of course to choose medium-rare, and drench with Léon’s signature sauce,.

Angus @ RM 79.90 or regular beef @ RM 49.90

Leon (19)

Leon (20)

I quite like the Léon’s roasted spring chicken @ RM 19.90 for a half-bird. An effort for inserting herbs into the chicken to get the meat juicy and punch with flavour. Juicy inside out and a classic dish. Some of you might not used to the saltiness of it, but I find it alright.

Leon (21)

Roasted salmon served with a beurre blanc sauce, with hints of smoked paprika.

Leon (24)

I love their nother  Le Poulet Frites @ RM19.90. Crispy inside out, cut of fries is perfect and it does have a hint of sweeetness after taste. First time enjoying fries paired with white. and taste pretty good. .

Leon (22)

Leon (25)

As for the endingg, we end with a sweet satisfaction. Those of you love pungent flavour, their dessert is for you to knock off.

Leon (28)

Creme Brulee @ RM 9.90. Density of cream is just nice, hint of vanilla and I like the slight egg’y after taste. The torch burnt top is just nice.

Leon (31)

Tiramisu Verrine @ RM 10.90 Not the usual tiramisu I have. Creamy, yet the sponge cake soak with nice espresso coffee shot which is not too bitter but goes well with the cream.

Leon (32)

Chocolate Mousse @ RM 10.90. I believe this would be girl’s best friend. Dense and pack with flavour.

Leon (33)

Why is this place one of my recommended place. Rather simple. Price, ambiance and food. A place I have visited couple of times over the years.

Psst, also this place was previously known as Cocott.

If you want something refreshing in our hot days, then go for their Sparkling Pink Grapefruit. Marinated with a little twist overnight and serve with soda to give you the refreshing buzz. Filled with Grapefruit pulp at the bottom and I finish this glass quite instantly. – Recommended. @ RM 14.60

This look quite gigantic when it is served. Their Bulgogi Waffle is pretty good. A bit of like Belgian liege waffle texture. Soft, airy and the marination of Bulgogi is just spot on.

Beans n Beans (12)

For warm food, we had Chicken Bulgogi Sandwich @ RM 15.90. Love the marination and sauces of Bulgogi. Not too strong yet pairs well with some light dressing on the top and it is a great sandwich for some quick bite.

Beans n Beans (14)

Croque Monsieur @ RM 15.90

Beans n Beans (15)

IF you are a cheese lover, then this Croque Monsieur would be your perfect choices. Generous with ingredients that easily filled your stomach after finishing the whole piece as it topped with 3 layers of bread.

Beans n Beans (16)

Beans n Beans (17)

If you love something different and willing to explore yet classic, then I am recommending this Injulmi Honey (Muar Chi texture). It is a Korean dessert muar chi base sandwich, topped with peanut powder, almond flakes, where muar chi is warm, chewy and quite a good combination of flavours. Love the powdery peanut.

Beans n Beans (18)

Beans n Beans (19)

Choco Bingsu top in the list as one of their best seller. Chocolate craze fans will love this as it is filled with chocolate powder, chocolate pieces, cookies and almond flakes. Every bite is filled with chocolate. @ RM 17.80

Beans and Beans (15)

Beans N Beans bingsu currently top in my bingsu list as it leans towards milky and very snowy texture, soft yet melt in your mouth type.

What to order for first timer: Green Tea Bingsu, Injulmi Honey (Muar Chi texture), Chicken Bulgogi Sandwich, Pink Grapefruit, Sparkling Pink Grapefruit.

Rate it as one of the best Korean dessert in PJ. It could be others also. Do recommend me.
