Thailand Tomyum Mee @ Kimberly Street, Penang

[Update – 17th May 2015 : The Coffeeshop have close down, therefore all the stalls inside are no longer in operation, pending further notice from my friend on his new location, Kimberly Street]

Street food is one of a well know signature for Penang and this round I am back to hunt for more food. So drop by to pay a visit at this little confusing shop Kedai Tauhu Beku Organic as one of my best friend had just open a Thailand Tomyum Mee in their shop. He is operating in one of our very own local famous street food – Kimberly Street since Jan 20th 2015.

If you do know where is the famous Char Koey Teow is then you walk slightly further down as there are another famous Koey Teow Soup and also Economy bee hoon. You will then spot this bright yellow sign board and that will be the shop. Right in front of the shop also sells Boat Noodle, really hawker version also at RM 1.90

As you walk further into the shop, you will see this sign which will be my friends shop.

Love the ambiance of this shop as every one knows everyone. Do take note that, inside the outlet is pretty stuffy, best to seat along the street but limited seats are available only. For family with kids, do not worry about it  as he had prepare 2 baby chairs.

Like any other typical Tomyum Hawker stall, you get to choose your ingredient as his price per bowl starts from RM 4.50 onwards depending on the ingredient you chose.

I would recommend his fried fish, which is fried to perfection, not too thick yet slightly crips skin. Seafoods are available too, like squid, fresh fish, big head prawn (depending on freshness of that day) as he visits wet market daily to grab those ingredient before he start operating.

For noodle, you can choose maggie mee, bee hoon or mee.

This is Ah Hwa which is the chef behind the secret ingredient of his soup.

Usually, he cook individual bowl for each customer, just because the whole group of us, he prepare special with his new hot stone pot for 6 pax of us.

I must say, he certainly do have his own version of tomyum soup style as I love it. Soup serve along is in fiery red, spicy enough to make you down 2 glass of water, drench in sweat, end with sour and super mild sweet end.

We ended up 2 pot. Our customise version, comes with big prawn head, needle mushroom, crab stick, fish ball, fresh fish meat & fried fish meat. His tomyum now currently hit into one of my top 3 recommendations.

There is also another well known tomyum soup stall at Weld Quey as I find both of them have their own style, as the one in Weld Quey, their soup broth is slightly thicker and my friend is slightly soupy that comes to my liking.

After I am stuffed and its super full, then my best friend ask me to order this Thai Boat Noodle as she mention is pretty good too.

Cooked by another young chap with his dad together and taste is pretty interesting. He adds in more soup and also
