If you are looking for some classic China food in Kota Damansara, Yan Huo Yu Xiang (烟火鱼香) is definitely one of them. Their concept is very similiar to the one in Yangzhou, China that serve fiery red and bed of chili with fish in a hot plate. This restaurant was recommended by a good friend of mine hence we decided to check it out.
Operate by the owner himself from China as when he serve us his accent is quite deep in Chinese slang.
In the menu, most of the staff are spicy and their spicy level is totally different from Sze Chuan Spicy where do get you numb. This is another level of spicy.
We originally wanted our usual fried potato slices and since here is famous for their hotpot and hot plate, we tried this potato slice in claypot. It turns out so good that we order another portion. This slice potato stir fried with their own special sauce with a hint of sweetness and mild sourish spicy end.
This is their signature dish, where it do look very spicy but it is actually not. The spiciness do hit you for mere 2 second and very nice aroma of its special sauce, with pappercorn and other spices comes out after it. We wish they give us more soup base as it is perfect for our rice. Just the fish and rice is good enough! Spicy Grill Fish @ RM 98
Usual will have Dry Fried Chili with pop corn chicken. At this place, you can skip on this as for RM 48 it is indeed very expensive for such a dish.
For soup, we order this special vercimili clear soup and it is quite bland.
No doubt that their fish and fried potato is good and we will certainly come back again to try other dishes as we were small in group that day. Worth to give it a try.
