As usual, as we head to some where new, the first thing that lock in our mind is where can we find good food? Then I called up my best friend and ask her on where to get good meal. One of her highly recommended place is this Restaurant Woon Kiang that serve very good Kway Teow Kia, that is one of a signature food in Johor according to her. Without any hesitation, we Google up and found the place.

Pack with people on weekend as we expected and most of the crowd here are locals which is good as we need to find a place where the locals dine most of the time.

AS we head to the main counter to order and saw all the ingredients, it was all fresh and looks delicious especially on the duck and salted vegetable soup.

We were all very hungry as we spend whole day in Legoland and in here we all let lose. Upon ordering, we have place order of nearly the whole range available. Most of them speak Johor Hokkien or Mandarin here.

There are 2 types of salted vegetable dishes to choose from and we ordered both. Both are equally good as it depends on your own preference as one with spicy end and the other one is sour crunchy end. For the Kiam Chai Boey, U am amazed with it as its pungent in taste, right spicy end and vegetable are all soft. All of them ate like they havent dine for 3 days.

Chicken Feet , Braised Egg & Tofu, Braised Pork Belly

Woo kiang (11)

Braised Duck is good too, as the meat is soft and tender, with their own season of soy sauce that make it tasty. Best of all must dip with their own home made chili sauce.

Braised Pork Skin

Woo kiang (13)

ahhh, one of my favourite plate is Braised Pork Intestines and Pork Tongue are both equally good that they are not overcook, yet texture is slightly chewy for pork tongue and pork intestine are soft which is good!

Woo kiang (14)

This is their Signature Koey Teow Kia that serve with their own cook base of soup and top with pork lard. Smells a bit like Bak Kut Teh or if comparable, it would be similiar to Penang Kuih Chap. Soup base are equally good and aromatic that doesnt give a hint of too salty, or will make you keep going and keoy teow is soft.

Most of the people there dine with rice as its up to your choice of selection.

This is their signature chili. Its good enough to make you numb as the Spiciness is there. I had 2 of these.

If you are in Johor, and looking for good local food, definitely this is one of the place to hunt for. Highly Recommended!
