Wheee, off to a jet plane. Well, its no where far but to a place where I have spend most of my holiday which is Penang. Back again to the heritage island whereby for this Canon Get Closer Campaign Launch at Sekeping Victoria. Before heading to the launch which is happening in the evening, we were given the opportunity to tour one of their first EOS Boutique branch in the Northern region under this heritage building.
Vanitha then introduce us to the whole northern region crew from MD himself to the sales personal that is the lead of the area.
Its consider one of the first showroom whereby customers can walkin and check out all Canon products ranging from office, personal and to their full range of photography. A table is equip with one of the latest model for customers to get their hands on and try it out. A well train staff will be next to you to attend to all your enquiry.
There are even a demo for printers for the printing qualities.
Under the showcase, they also do have their First Canon Asia Camera Museum that house all their products from first generation till now.
We were then introduce, then tour on the whole area as you get to see the evolve of camera back from the first it was created. To take a picture when it was first invented, took you 3 days and now its just a click away.
Classic working counter to cleanse the camera gear.
I still remember these, as I do not know what the figure of 100, 200, 400 and 800 as I know the higher the number goes, the more expensive means more good. 😀 Till date sure I know what it had meant and think back how silly am I.
There is a whole Darm room and certain entique was donated by a generous guy to them be a showcase. Great to drop by for a quick cam whore.
In the evening, we then head to one of the most classic, heritage area – Sekeping Victoria.
One of the reason that this is a chosen location by Canon as it fits very well with their campaign. Its classic and certainly gives you the feel of classic feeling that travels you back in time for a moment and see Penang for what it really was without leaving the present. Then take a quick picture of that original façade in its quaint form as proof you saw history revealed before your eyes.
They have a mini bar with simple food menu to satisfy your stomach.
That’s exactly what Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is bringing to the Pearl of the Orient. Canon proudly presents “Canon Get Closer;” a chance for locals as well as tourists to get a closer look, through the eye of the camera lense and discover the secret behind Penang’s lure and why it has been such a quintasential destination for centuries.
For the love of photography and Penang is well known for the mural paintings that these area are, primarily targeted to enrich tourist hotspots with its own existing historical heritage.
Sekeping Victoria does not only brings you down to memory lane but do offer a great place for a night in such ambiance.
Love these classic switches.
Mini Kitchen downstairs for your usage.
Canon has done this by opening virtual windows into the historic past of those hotspots by way of augmented reality – projections of the hotspot’s original façade and state. Flash-triggered “Canon Get Closer” projectors have been strategically placed all over Penang where tourists flock and locals hang out. When a passers-by take pictures of the heritage sites, the camera’s flash will trigger a momentary projection of that particular site, but in its historic form.
For Mr.Wataru the CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia mention that photography is the most beautiful form of history-archiving. It allows us to capture precious memories that will last for years after the experience has expired. It keeps that healthy presence of the past while moving into the future.
