Fatt Kee Spicy Fish – 發記招牌特色烤鱼 or Ah Fa Roast Fish at Pudu had always been in my list to hunt till all my crazy ex-colleague pushing it thru. Was tempted twice by another colleague that he went alone and we have to ensure the third time, all of us is there to get the burning sensation.
I have pass by this place a few times and it is always pack on weekend. It is best advise to swing by during weekdays.
Fatt Kee have two concept, with one of their original start up is as the picture above by seating at the road side. If you need more comfortable seating experience, head to their new shop which is 2 doors away by asking the workers there.
What my ex colleague told me that, to enjoy original spiciness have to be at this road side area as the one in the shop had tone down due to many complains.
Menu is pretty straight forward as they come in set. We ordered F2 @ RM 148 and add on mushroom @ RM 3. There are many spicy level to choose from A – G – where anything after medium spicy – you have to top up RM 10 for Medium spicy – RM 15 for Spicy and RM 18 for extremely spicy.
In our original conversation we wanted to go for Extremely spicy as my ex colleague said beginner is for noob. Since all of us can take spicy we are ready to embark on it til one of my colleague mention she could not really take spicy. After much debating, we ended up Medium Spicy @ RM 10 additional, even when we mention that, the guy that took the order asked us 3 times are we sure we wanted that as it is quite spicy.
This is our serving of our order. When it is served, the smell of the sauces already make us drool. An instant hit of spiciness flavour poke thru our nose with after effect of sourness, and by looking at the amount of chili we can already felt the heat in our stomach. The spiciness taste is a cross over of China and local sambal pedas.
We quickly dip all our spoons to test the soup base and guess what? Only 2 spoonful of the soup I have to surrender to this flaming, super spicy hot soup base. We have to scoop out some of the chili as was told by the waiter, the longer it cook the spicier it gets.
No doubht that the ingredients is very fresh and good. The spiciness of medium is too much to handle and our conversations begins. Those who took Spicy and Extremely spicy is god like to us. Only then we realise the waiter’s interest by confirming three times with us on it.
Eventually – The one at the road side the name is called Ah Fa Roast Fish = Fatt Kee Roast Fish (is the one with air conditioned)
If you love some spicy challenges and love to get numb, do try out from beginner level as we believe it would be a good start instead of heading to medium spicy like us. Would certainly go back to try out their beginner level to enjoy the dish of it instead of torturing ourselves. Set back it is expensive.

Eat this is like stomach going to hell
indeed!
An utter disappointment. Hot but unappetizing soup.
Worth zero recommendation and time.
